Capstone Project: Where we are & What's to come

The more that I think about it, trying to determine a solid difference between products made for profit and for the benefit of others is difficult. One thing that needs to be understood is that a single product can be extremely useful for some, while being a detriment to others. Take the iPhone as an example. When first released, it absolutely revolutionized the modern world. We all became more interconnected and advanced as a species into a new era. Nowadays however, while still a necessity, isn't as special as it once was. There are competitors like Google and Android who have products just as good, if not better. A 'new' iPhone is pumped out every year with redundant features in an attempt to recapture that initial avant-garde feeling Steve Jobs gave us in order to gain a few more millions from our pockets.

I think that the type of product I'd want to create is one that will make me enough money for a return on the time investment I put into it. Of course, one of the main points of creating a product is to earn money, but I want to simultaneously help others with my product in a similar way to Clif Bar & Company. The main goal of their products is to not only get people to buy them, but assist those who consume their snacks by providing the necessary nutrients some wouldn't get otherwise.
